While at the park, visitors might see West Indian manatees, gopher tortoises, snowy egrets, least terns, and magnificent frigate birds. Ranger-led nature hikes are available in the winter.

BOCA GRANDE VILLAGE
Boca Grande is now known for its historic downtown, sugar sand beaches, shelling, blue water, and world class fishing. The village is lined with palm trees, quaint old homes, shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Where the railroad tracks once ran, a paved bike and golf-cart path now extends the length of the island, 6.5 miles.
Gasparilla Island is one of a string of barrier islands bordered by the Gulf of Mexico, Charlotte Harbor, Little Gasparilla Pass, and the Boca Grande Pass.
The fishing has been drawing anglers for more than 100 years for: grouper, snapper, mackerel, and kingfish. Boca Grande has also earned the distinction of being known as “The Tarpon Fishing Capital of the World.”
In March, the sea turtles begin laying their eggs in the white powder sand; peak nesting occurs between May and August.

SOUTH GULF COVE
South Gulf Cove (SGC) is a waterfront community with boating access to the Gulf of Mexico. There are over 55 miles of navigable canals which flow into the Interceptor Lagoon.
All waterways in the community maintain consistent depths because of a lock system controlling water flow, to and from, the Myakka River. Water depths range from 6-9 feet and the bridge clearances are roughly 10 feet. All waterfront properties north of Calumet (section 93) and south of Appleton Blvd. are designated as Sailboat Water and do not have any fixed bridges. There is a County owned boat ramp within the community that gives all residents access to the waterways.
South Gulf Cove Park / Boat Ramp (10150 Amicola St) amenities include playground, basketball, BBQ grills, boat ramp, kayak launch, fishing, facility rentals, picnic shelters, picnic tables, restrooms, and boat trailer parking. The picnic pavilion is 980 square ft with 6 tables seating 48 people.
Butterford Waterway Boat Ramp (13555 Marathon Blvd) amenities include a boat ramp, a small trailer parking area, and fishing.
San Domingo Park (14598 San Domingo Blvd) amenities include fitness trail, multipurpose open space, nature trail, picnic tables, and fishing.

Gorgeous home combined with the beauty of nature. The perfect escape!
This home is spectacular and exactly as pictured. Sitting on the lanai and watching the sunrise over the canal is a great way to start your day. The hosts, Nancy & Pete, are fantastic and a pleasure to work with. We loved staying here and would highly recommend it. A great spot for the nature lover! Susan & Judi
