Why Kids Love It
THE BEACH, the water, sunsets, nature...quiet, family and friend time!
Don't forget to visit nearby St Joseph Peninsula State Park - With 10 miles of sugar white sand, this park is one of the top rated beaches in the United States rated #1 by Dr. Beach in 2002. Sunbathing, shelling, snorkeling, swimming, bicycling and fishing are popular activities. A boat ramp which accommodates most trailered vessels is located at Eagle Harbor. Some of the highest dunes in the nation are found here as well as some of the last remaining habitat of coastal sand pine scrub. St. Joseph Peninsula State Park has an abundance of wildlife and provides excellent opportunities for bird watching and wildlife viewing. The park is extremely popular during scallop season (July 1 - Labor Day weekend) And we highly recommend visiting Port St. Joe and Apalachicola for great restaurants and shops (within 30 minutes)
Peachy's on the Cape (cash only).
Coneheads on the Cape for ice cream and food.
Port St Joe: Provisions, Pepper's Mexican, Indian Pass Raw Bar (2 locations--original on the way to Apalach), Pete's Pizza
Apalachicola:
Up the Creek Raw Bar, The Station Raw Bar, Hole in the Wall Seafood, Oyster City Brewing Co.
Put your beach chairs/towels out early to reserve your spot out front.
Weber's Donuts opens at 7:30am, donut lover's start lining up way before that. When donuts are gone, they're gone. Check sign on shop for days open.
