This beautiful end unit is nestled in the most charming area of the best condominium complex in Key Largo. As you walk up to the front of the unit, you will be pleased by the inviting seating area and the paved walkway. It is close to the community beach and near the inlet. Your end unit allows you the added benefit of a set of sliding glass doors to a semi-private area with a newly built deck and gas grill. The side area is surrounded by lush foliage. There is a relaxing paved patio off the rear of the unit. The view from the back patio is one that will have you renting this unit again and again. It is the perfect spot to sit in the provided lounge chairs with a G&T and watch the sun slide into the water at sunset through the Buttonwood trees.
The kitchen was completely renovated in 2017, and the refrigerator with water and ice dispensing arrived 4/15/2024! There is an oversized stainless-steel sink, dishwasher, and built in garbage pail. This galley kitchen with granite countertops boasts full complement of pots, pans, serving ware, dishes, utensils etc. And there is a pass-thru window to pass those Keys lobsters through to cook on the barbie! There is bar seating at the kitchen area. Small appliances include: coffee machine, blender, crock pot, and toaster.
There is an interesting coral pedestal dining table with a glass top and room for six.
The downstairs half bathroom is recently renovated.
The living room boasts a large white leather sectional with built-in recliners and handy remote-control storage. A cocktail table with coral base, two leather side chairs, a large HD tv, and a small bar complete the area.
The guest bedroom offers two twin beds, a pull-out trundle bed, a 6-drawer dresser and a 5-drawer high dresser, as well as two chests at the foot of each bed.
The master bedroom overlooks the bay. It contains a queen-sized bed, a large 9- drawer dresser and two smaller 3 drawer dressers. There is an enclosed balcony area with sliding glass doors which contains a desk, two cushioned rattan chairs to relax and a stationary bike in case you don't want to relax. There is a massive bi-fold closet.
The upstairs full bathroom was renovated in summer 2022. It has a rain head, handheld and a bench to sit down (ladies - easy leg shaving) with a grab bar for safety. There is a single sink oversized vanity.
Unique Benefits
Aside from all the amenities of the friendly Buttonwood Bay community, by far the best feature of this unit is the ever-changing view of the bay. From the upstairs enclosed balcony to the paved stone patio in the back, the unmatched turquoise water is always visible. Slowing down at the end of the day to watch the sunset is the reason to take a vacation.
Why Kids Love It
If you are a family with children, this is a quiet gated community with 24-hour manned guardhouse. The speed limit is 10 MPH and most residents respect that requirement. The boat basin offers a way to walk around the complex while staying off the road. And it is a nice opportunity to look at all the boats. You may even see some fisherman home from a day on the water cleaning their catch at some of the many fish cleaning stations scattered throughout the marina. We occasionally have manatees that come into the harbor. The three heated pools, the tennis and basketball courts offer fun for the kiddos. And of course, the sandy beach with swimming platform behind the K building is open to all. There are two kayaks at the home that are available for your use.
Area Information
Key Largo is the diving capital Don't miss a trip to Pennekamp Park. It is a great way to learn about the ecosystem of the beautiful reefs that lie off the coast of the Keys.
Take a sportfishing trip. Worth the price. You can bring your catch home with you, then head out to one of the restaurants that will cook your catch. What a fish story to tell the folks at home. Pack the family in the car and drive the three miles north to Jacob's Aquatic Center. There is an interactive play pool/water park (12-18" deep) featuring a Pirate Ship, spray gym, and "beachfront" entry. Family admission (2A, 2C) is $30!
Attractions Within Walking Distance
Not too much within walking distance. You could drop the kayaks at the house into the water that lies 25 feet from the back door. And you can contact the Paddle Board Guy who will deliver paddleboards to the house and pick them up when you are done.

There is a required $2500 security deposit due upon successful booking of the property. This security deposit will be refunded within 5 to 7 days after your rental ends.
A $2000 downpayment along with the $2500 security deposit is due upon lease signing. Balance of rental payment is due 6 weeks prior to the rental period.

About the host: Our parents purchased this condo in Buttonwood Bay in 1970. They remain one of the few original owners. As a family, we have been enjoying the Keys for over 50 years. In years gone by, the second bedroom contained bunk beds to sleep our family of eight children. And the rule was, no going out to play until the sliding glass doors were cleaned, polished and fingerprint free! (You don't need to worry about that as the cleaning service will have everything spic and span when you arrive.) Our mom still lives in the condo but spends the winters in the northeast. She is a reverse snowbird.
Why this property? Buttonwood Bay is one of the best condo communities in Key Largo. It is a gated 280-unit waterfront condominium community with a magnificent deep-water coral rock harbor adjoining Florida Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway. Every unit has a marina or bay view. Amenities include five tennis and pickleball courts, three heated swimming pools, a well-equipped fitness center, saunas, basketball, a meeting & party venue with kitchen, eight sunset "martini docks," and also a rare sandy beach! A boaters’ paradise, Buttonwood Bay also has a Ships Store with fuel pumps, live shrimp, ice, beverages and snacks. There's a boat launching ramp. (Trailer storage is not available.) Buttonwood's friendly, casual, ambiance makes it a sanctuary for families, their friends and guests to relax and play. There are year-round, seasonal and weekend residents who dive, fish ocean-side or the back-country and then gather to enjoy spectacular sunsets. Do we need to pay the utilities (phone, electric, internet)?
The electric and internet are included in the rental. You would only be responsible if there are any charged phone calls. IE overseas calls, paid service calls.
Who pays the taxes on the rental?
The Monroe County rental taxes are in addition to the monthly rental cost.
What payment is required upon booking?
When you make you reservation, we will collect a $2500.00 security deposit. This will hold your reservation until the final payment are required. Six weeks before your stay begins, the full rental amount is due.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank checks, checks, PayPal (via "Friends and Family,") Zelle, CashApp, and Venmo
When will my security deposit be returned?
Your security deposit will be returned within 14 calendar days.
What is the cancellation policy?
(a) If the Property becomes unavailable to the Tenant prior to occupancy, for any reason, Landlord agrees to refund the full amount paid to the date of cancellation, and Tenant agrees to release any claims against Landlord.
(b) If the Tenant cancels, for any reason, and Landlord can find another tenant who will take the same term and price (or better), we will refund you 100% of your payments, less a $500 cancelation fee, regardless of when the cancellation occurs*.
(c) If the Tenant cancels, for any reason, after making the full rental payment, and it is 60 days or more before the lease is scheduled to start, Landlord will refund 75% of the rental amount.
(d) If the Tenant cancels, for any reason, between 59 to 30 days before the start of the lease, Landlord will refund 25% of the rental amount.
(e) If, for any reason, the Tenant cancels this Agreement between 29 days or less from the Arrival Date, Tenant will receive 10% refund of rental amount.
(f) For Tenant cancellations made the day of arrival, all monies are forfeited. (And we will curse your name.)
