About this rental
This lovely stand alone house sits on a large lot with a fenced back yard with front drive parking and gate access to backyard carport. The 3 bedroom 2 bath home is completely updated with new kitchen and fully refreshed bath facilities. There is luxury vinyl tile flooring throughout except for carpet in the master bedroom. Because the home is occupied by the owner from January through April, it is fully equipped with all household items necessary for a comfortable and easy vacation being available to renters. A fully furnished brand new composite deck offers renters plenty of opportunities to enjoy outdoor time in the beautiful Florida weather. A large generator equipped to run the entire house is available in case of inclement weather.
The second home is occupied by the owner between January 1 and April 30, but it is available for monthly rental May through December except for times blocked out for personal family trips.;
Unique Benefits
One unique benefit of this home is that it features off-street parking both in the front driveway and under the rear carport.
Another unique benefit is that the property manager lives close by, so should there be a need to get help or information about the area, contact is quick and easy.
Why Kids Love It
Kids love the fact that they will have their own TV's in their bedrooms and that those TV's are already connected to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+. They also love the fact that the Wifi and Internet are screaming fast. Finally, they love the fact that there are multiple ice cream shops close by, but I will be the first to tell them that Twistee Treat is THE BEST!
Area Information
The home is located close to the best beaches in the world. It is 7 minutes from Treasure Island Beach, 10 minutes from Passe Grille Beach, and 20 minutes from Clearwater Beach. Maderia Beach and Indian Rocks Beach are just a 30 minute jaunt, and Anna Marie Island is 40 minutes away. If beach time or water sports are your thing, you are ideally situated to enjoy a different experience every day or camp out at your favorite beach from sunrise to sunset 7 days a week. Take the sand wagon, beach tent, beach chairs and Bluetooth speaker, grab a good book, and find yourself in the sun and sand.
You will also find yourself close to the best restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions. Downtown Gulfport, FL, 1 is 7 minutes away, and downtown St. Petersburg FL and Tropicana Field are 10 minutes away. Hockey fans and Buccaneers fans will find themselves only 25 minutes away from their favorite sporting events in downtown Tampa.
Those arriving by air can fly into St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport or Tampa International Airport. Both are about 25 minutes from the house via the interstate.
Attractions Within Walking Distance
There are multiple good bars and restaurants within walking distance of the house. There are three grocery stores within walking distance, and The Pasadena Pet Resort is right across the street. There is a hardware store, a book store, a barber shop, a nail shop, and a Wells Fargo Bank within walking distance too.
Favorite Places To Eat
The best wedge salad in the state is available at Willy's, which is a short drive from the house a features great burgers and wings as well as specialty dinners that will remind you of your past (think chicken livers and fried bologna). You can get the same excellent wedge salad and menu offerings at Willy's sister restaurant, Dead Bob's, if you just go in the opposite direction. The same family owns Lure Restaurant, also a great place to eat.
We would also recommend the following favorite restaurants:
Go to Leverocks Restaurant. It is close to the house and you will always get a great meal.
Go to Don's Docks to buy fresh fish you can cook on the grill at home or eat at one of the several restaurants in John's Pass. All of them are good.
Go to Umami for all you can eat sushi or order off the menu if you are less hungry. Umami also features good non-sushi fare.
Crabby Bills is always a good choice.
Inside Scoop
Many restaurants offer senior discounts or Kids-Eat-Free discounts on one or more days of the week. Look online for special pricing.
If you are headed to the beach, go earlier rather than later. Parking can be difficult, especially during the week. The Sun Runner shuttle to the beaches is always a good option, but you will have to carry all your "stuff."

About the host: I am a retired high school and middle school teacher, high school and middle school principal, and central office administrator with 43 years of experience in education. I seem to live my life in threes--I have three college degrees, three wonderful children, and three equally wonderful grandchildren. I love to read, listen to music, go to and watch movies, garden (flowers only, please) golf, shuffleboard, bowl, sit on the beach, travel anywhere and everywhere, and take my dog BonJovi on long walks.
My husband is a retired salesman who spent his 50 year sales career traveling the Midwest to sell name brand appliances to dealers. He loves road trips and all types of travel to places near and far, old time radio, movies of all types, sports of all types--including golf, shuffleboard, and bowling--and watching his grandkids participate in the activities they love. He is a lifelong fan of Husker football, Husker volleyball, and his beloved KC Chiefs.
Why this property? We purchased this home as a "snow bird destination" because the older we get the less we like winter and snow. The added bonus is that one daughter and one grandson live in St. Petersburg, so the location allows us to spend 1/3 of the year with them.
We use Mermaid Manse as a winter home from January through April, and we are excited to share it with others from May to December so that they too can see what we love about Florida.
