About the owner: Some of our favorite things to do are: Bonfires at the beach after sunset, scalloping in the bay, kayaking, Indian Pass Raw Bar to enjoy oysters, crab legs & steam shrimp as well as great local music and company, a day poking around the stores (and eating) in Apalachicola many things!

I look forward to having you enjoy a Cape Escape soon!

Guestbook comments from the host:

If you are longing for a stroll on a quiet white sand beach that goes on in both directions as far as the eye can see, you’ve found it at Cape Escape on Cape San Blas. We visited the week before Easter and still the pet-friendly Barrier Dunes community was peaceful. It was a doggone dream vacation for our pup. Dogs walking their humans everywhere. And with three decks, our Jack had a front row seat! Wendy was prompt to respond to all questions and provided us with a list of establishments on the island and in Port St Joe. I could go on, but best to experience it first hand. Truly, this is a best kept secret. So shhhhh, please keep it to yourself...

I will share with you how I feel about Cape Escape II:

I am very satisfied with my stay here.  I LOVE, LOVE the High-boy Adirondack chairs on the main deck area.  What a wonderful vantage point!  The pond was another very diverse ecosystem.  Incredible!

We've been coming here every year for 13 years (except during H. Michael) and happy to see the coast coming back. The beach nourishment is great.

What a treat to come to a place where the stove has level, working burners.  You have NO IDEA what crap we have been exposed to!  And, your knives actually are sharp!  Incredible!

Between Ft. Morgan/Gulf Shores, Alabama and here in Florida, we prefer Florida.  Keep up the good work!

Nov 2020

We loved our stay at Cape Escape II. The proximity to the beach is fantastic and the condo is wonderfully relaxing. We’d love to do it again.

Oct 2020

We had a great two weeks at the Cape. In June, we stayed in the Cape Escape Unit and in July the Turtle Crawl unit. Both units were very clean, set up well, and well stocked with paper products, soaps, and detergents. Our 7th year to the Cape, and our first time using Cape Escape Vacation Rentals. Wendy was more than helpful when we made our reservations and always available when we had questions. We will definitely use Cape Escape Vacation Rentals again!

Jun 2020

Our pups loved Cape Escape II just as much as we did! We had an absolute blast. The closet had plenty of beach items for us to use which made packing a lot easier. We were able to bring out canopy out to the beach using the beach cart which we were so thankful for. Wendy is wonderful and we will continue coming back for more fun. She answered all of our questions and more. Can’t wait to go back!

Jan 2020

Thank you again for a great week. We loved every minute of being there and the weather was perfect. Already talking about when we can go again.

Jan 2020

Thank you, Wendy, for a great experience at Cape San Blas. We have been coming to the Cape for many, many years. We love the beach and love Barrier Dunes. This was our second time staying in this Condo and it was one of the best we have stayed in. Well stocked, comfortable beds (we’ve stayed in some condos that I would have rather slept on the floor than the bed) & very clean. I also appreciate the beach closet stocked with beach chairs, beach gear, toys for the sand…one less thing you have to pack in your car. It rained three out of the five days we stayed but we had a great time anyway. We went to Apalachicola on one day where we ate at The Owl Cafe and tried some of the beer at Oyster City Brewing Company (very good). The condo was stocked with board games and we really enjoyed playing games on the other days. Our granddaughter enjoyed the turtles in the pond, and boy are there a lot of turtles! We will definitely consider coming back to this condo.

Jan 2019

Cape Escape II was wonderful! We loved being right on the lake. Being morning people, we would get up and watch the sunrise off the back deck. Lots of turtles in the lake and we enjoyed feeding then. They would anticipate us when we came out on the back deck and all start swimming over. The home was beautifully decorated and we liked that it was an end unit. It had everything you could imagine…we didn’t even get everything out of our car once we had a look around! It was VERY clean, which we really appreciated!
We are so glad we found Cape San Blas for the 1st time. The beaches are beautiful. We have been going to Destin and loved the fact there was no crowds. Restaurants were close and we enjoyed the convenience stores on the Cape when we needed something.
Thank you for answering all of our questions before our trip since we haven’t been to Cape San Blas before. Once we arrived, the guest information book was VERY thorough and we enjoyed doing some of the things that were covered in the book. Was nice to have all that information there and not have to research the area or do internet research. We will definitely be back again!

Apr 2017

We had such a great time at the Cape over Christmas! This is our 4th Christmas coming down to the cape and the condo was one of the nicest we have stayed in! The amenities were great and the furniture and beds were very comfortable!! When we first walked into the condo it had such a nice and cozy feel to it. It was clean and well taken care of. The pond view was great and it was fun feeding the turtles off the deck. It was also great that there was a boardwalk right across the street that took us directly to the beach! The beach chairs and the beach cart were one of the best amenities that the condo had!! It made taking everything we wanted to take down to the beach very easy!
It was also nice that the weather was beautiful while we were there. We had almost two weeks of sunny and 70 degrees! We had such a relaxing and fun time at the cape. The next time we come down to the Cape, we will definitely be renting from you again! Thank you for providing such a great place for us to enjoy our vacation at!

The Perfect Beach Getaway!

The Cape Escape II was the perfect beach getaway for my wife and I. The unit was very nice and perfectly stocked with everything you could possibly need. They even had a "beach closet" full of beach toys that we could use. The community amenities were great. We were only a short walk to the beach access which was fantastic. Cape San Blas was so amazing! We enjoyed searching for creatures in the shallows of the bay and then fishing and enjoying the ocean as well. A camp fire on the beach as the sun sets is not a bad way to spend the evening. I can't wait to get back to the Cape!

We love Cape Escape II

We stayed in Cape Escape II in July of this year and had such a wonderful time. The amenities were comfortable (including the pull-out couch). The kitchen had the things we needed for a few meals. It was quiet and clean and we had a wonderful view of the pond (and the many, many turtles) out back. There were also several games and puzzles in the unit that we took advantage of on the one rainy day. We had 7 people total (4 adults, 2 kids, and 1 baby) and all slept comfortably. Both pools in Barrier Dunes were clean and fun and the beach was beautiful--both pools and the beach were an easy, less than 5 minutes walk from our condo. We did our big grocery shopping at the Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe and the Trading Post took care of all our other needs. We tried Long Bill's for the first time and loved it--the food and service were great. We had all of our other meals from St. Joe Shrimp Company right next to Trading Post and it was delicious. We will be back!

Our Happy Place

This is a perfect family friend condo. It is in a great location that is only steps from the beach and over looks the pond which has become one of our favorite things. Every time we step onto the deck dozens of turtles head our way to say hi (and beg for food). :) We spend most of our time on the beach and I love that other than grabbing our beach towels everything had been supplied for us. This was our 3rd time staying at Cape Escape II and we will definitely be back!

Wonderful and Relaxing Vacation

This was our first time staying at Cape Escape II. We did not know what to expect and boy were we surprised! The house was so clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed feeding the turtles each night off the deck. The beach was not crowded and very clean. The walk to the beach was very short and made it easy to go back and forth. It was one of the best vacations we have ever had. We will be coming back next year and would recommend this to everyone. Great family atmosphere!!

Fantastic getaway!

Cape Escape II was a fantastic getaway. It was well stocked and nicely furnished. We could have traveled with much less and will do so next time we book, which we definitely will! A lovely condo and a very short walk to the beach. The porches were nice as was the proximity to the State Park and the ice cream shop!

We Love the Cape

We Love our visits to the Cape. The home was comfortable, clean and had all we needed to feel at home. Short walk to the beach, very convenient location. Met many very nice people and their dogs. We enjoy watching the dogs play in the ocean. The process of booking was very smooth and Wendy has been a pleasure to work with. You will not regret your decision to stay here.

Peaceful oasis where time's on your side

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, from start to finish. The condo was clean, quiet, bright, spacious, and peaceful. My favorite time of day was watching the sun rise over the pond from the lower balcony. Or, maybe, it was watching sunset on the beach, just a few hundred feet from the condo. Hmmm... maybe it was lounging by the pool, where there was even more peace and quiet? I loved everything about this place. Don't hesitate - there is no downside to staying here.

Fantastic place!

We stayed at Cape Escape II last week and it was fantastic! Beautiful condo. Great for dogs. Overlooks the turtle pond. Sat on the deck and fed the 50+ turtles that come to eat when they see someone out on the deck. The beach was wonderful and so close. Beautiful white sand that the dogs really enjoyed walking on and swimming in the gulf. Hope to come back again. Our second time working with Wendy and she's great to work with.

Exceeded my expectations!

We loved everything about this condo; very clean and comfortable furnishing. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. Beaches are so beautiful and seafood just down the road. Our dog loved the beach and we are so glad he got to join in the fun. Wendy was a pleasure to work with and very helpful answering my questions. This was our first time at the cape, but hopefully not our last!

Awesome pet-friendly condo and beach with pet-friendly towns nearby!

You will make this location a yearly must do vacation! The condo is perfectly situated on a pond full of entertaining turtles, with plenty of grassy area for your fur baby to investigate! It is just steps to the beautiful sandy beach that we have never found to be crowded. With two pools available and a playground for children, there is plenty of variety when staying here. Our condo is always very clean, stocked with the basics that you have in your own home, and everything in good repair. Wendy does everything to assure your vacation is enjoyable and relaxing. Many of the businesses in Port St. Joe and Appalachicola are very welcoming to our dog, which makes our heart happy. We have come here every year since we found this jewel and will continue to do so.

Most relaxing vacation ever!!

Thank you for such a wonderful place for our family to enjoy!! Beautiful home with a beautiful lake front view and pathed walkways to the beach!! People riding bikes, using kayaks, walking their dogs. Wonderful, quiet, and friendly community. We appreciated having the gas grill and utensils readily available along with a beach cart that’s made for the beach, beach chairs and umbrella made for a great beach stay. We look forward to staying here again!!

Bliss in Cape San Blas

We spent a week-long vacation in Cape Escape II at Barrier Dunes and had an amazing time. The condo is spacious, comfortable and clean. It is also well stocked with most cooking and cleaning supplies provided. There's even an extensive spice selection! I'd never encountered that before in a vacation rental. The condo location is great too, especially the back decks overlooking the lake. The back decks face east so you get wonderful sunrise views from both. The front main bedroom deck has a good view to the gulf as well. The unit is a short walk to the beach which was relatively uncrowded with everyone able to social distance with no problems. A short hike in either direction on the beach provides almost no one else around. We quickly found watching the sunset on the beach a "must do" each day. They were just spectacular! Also, Wendy was a pleasure to deal with and responded to each request almost immediately. The instructions received for the day of arrival were very thorough and easy to follow. Overall, we had an excellent time in Cape San Blas and Cape Escape II and can't wait to return. I would definitely rent this unit again!

Perfect pet-friendly beach condo & wonderful experience!!

This was by far one of the best vacations I've had. From the condo to the beach no complaints from me. If you are bringing your fur babies this is the place to stay! I was worried the condo would have a bad pet smell but it DID NOT. First time for me at Cape San Blas and I will def. be back again. The Barrier Dunes community was beautiful and very dog friendly. The beds were comfy, everything was fully stocked and we took advantage of the beach closet. The beach was only a short distance away and very easy to get to. Wendy was great and easy to work with and we even got to meet her while we were there. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my stay with family and most of all my 8 year yellow lab who absolutely loved the ocean!!

Great getaway.

We booked a last minute “odd number of days availability” to go back to our favorite beach. Wendy Jackson is amazing and very good about getting back to you for any reason! We needed something mailed to us and she helped us with that. The place is just perfect for your week at the beach. We fed the turtles some of our salad fixings every night. We would gather about 20 at a time! Wendy has lots of good information about the area and the seasons on the cape. Thanks for a much needed Cape Escape!

Excellent pet- and family-friendly condo in perfect beach location

This condo is very comfortable and a great layout for families! Well stocked with household and kitchen items. Even though it looks far from the beach on the map, it is an easy, short walk through the complex. The view is great and felt even 'beachier' than our other family member's condo that was located closer to the beach. The turtles in the pond are an added bonus for kids - there are a ton of them and they LOVE to be fed! The beach is absolutely perfect with white sand and gentle ocean for kids. During COVID-19 times, it was real easy to social distance and not many restrictions (umbrellas, tents, dogs, etc.) on the beach. We are scratching our heads as to why we'd never heard of the area before - a absolute true gem that we will definitely return to in the future!!

Beautiful condo!

The Cape Escape 2 was just as beautiful in person as it was in pictures, and we were happily surprised to see a bit of a gulf view from the master bedroom which we were not expecting! Feeding the turtles in the pond each morning became a little ritual that we and our pups enjoyed as well. We had all of the kitchen amenities that we could possibly need for our stay and the well stocked beach closet and outdoor shower was wonderful! This was our third visit staying at Barrier Dunes, and Wendy has always made sure that our trip was perfect! When we were there in May this year she called us just to let us know that a large turtle was nesting on the beach, and wanted to make sure we didn’t miss it...it was amazing! We spent our trip sunning at the beach, soaking in the beautiful sunsets, exploring St Joseph’s Peninsula Park, dining at Coneheads, Up the Creek Raw Bar in Apalachicola, getting carry out from St. Joes Shrimp Co and making the trek to see the Donna Kay! As always a beach fire at sunset topped off our trip! We are already looking forward to our next trip!

Great stay!

My wife and I had a wonderful week at the Cape Escape 2 last week. The condo was very clean, very comfortable, very quiet and had a great location. The walk to the beach was short; but drive to the state park was very short. The condo was very well-stocked. The furnishings were extremely comfortable. The Cape has obviously fully recovered from the hurricane. The surf fishing was great; the whiting were huge with several in the 12-15 inch range. We rented a boat from Presnells and enjoyed a day of bay fishing, catching flounder and trout.

Great Pet Friendly Place to stay!!

We had a wonderful time at the Cape Escape II! We rented this unit for a long weekend. The unit is furnished with everything you need including beach chairs! The beach was clean and very private. The water was clear and beautiful too. We loved the fact that we could take our dog out on the beach and have him enjoy the beach with us!! Working with Wendy to book this condo was a great experience. She was very quick to respond and made the transaction easy. I highly recommend the condo and Cape Escape Vacation Rentals.

Lovely place away from the hustle and bustle of life. Bring your dog!!

Cape Escape was very clean and well kept. We had a issue with a toilet but I texted maintenance and it was fixed the next morning. I appreciated having the large pot for doing crab or shrimp boils. I also appreciated having a crock pot to cook a slab of ribs. We loved the location inside the barrier dunes. The whole family loved the decks and watching the turtles in the back. We would wave our arms and 60 turtles would show up. Don't let the hurricane keep you away. Some places on Cape San Blas are still recovering and repairing. It is a short walk to the beach. The rental came with a cart but we didn't need it. Be prepared to walk up stairs. When you go out to the beach , you can take multiple paths, one being without stairs. It is right next to the St. Joseph Park. Here you can rent kayaks and go out to the bay. Don't take the dogs to the park. In Barrier Dunes we enjoyed taking our dogs and seeing other people with their dogs. The neighborhood even leaves a supply of doggie bags for everyone to clean up after them making it more enjoyable to everyone. The beaches are white and clean!! We loved making a fire on the beach the last night of our stay, playing music and dancing! If you are into horse back riding, call Sand & Spur!! Get your bags packed and enjoy this area along with Port St. Joe and Apalachicola!! Plenty of shrimp and oysters to go around.

Cape Escape II Beautiful unit

Very nice well kept unit overlooking pond. We enjoyed feeding the turtles everyday and even had a deer show up one morning. It is a short walk to the beach where we enjoyed watching the sunsets and sitting around a bonfire in the evening. We even got to see dolphins one night . We visited St. Joe state park and enjoyed the beach and found a lot of nice sea shells. Barrier Dunes is a really nice complex and Wendy was great to answer all our questions and make sure everything you would need was already provided. We definitely recommend Wendy's Cape Escape. Great pet friendly condo in a great location.

Clean, comfortable condo in a super location. Short walk to pool or beach. Grounds are well maintained and tennis courts are newly surfaced. Kitchen was well equipped, as was the entire unit. Beach was fully restored and showed no signs of the storm. Very pet friendly complex. Really enjoyed our stay, would definitely stay again.

Cape San Blas Experience

This was our first vacation experience at the Cape but definitely not the last! The clean, white sandy beaches were very relaxing! The Cape is by far the most family friendly beach we ever visited. Also, big thanks to Wendy Jackson for hooking us up with a cozy, comfortable place to stay. It truly felt like home away from home!

Super Beach Condo

Steps away from the beach, Cape Escape is in a great location! It is nicely decorated, well-appointed and comfortable. We felt right at home as soon as we arrived. The beach is one of the nicest on the Gulf. This is the perfect condo if you love the beach and you are looking for something that is pet-friendly. It was nice to "escape" for a few days! Thanks, Wendy!
