Guestbook comments from the host:

We just returned home from our stay, and I’m ready to go back! Wendy is wonderful and staying at Cape Escape 1 was amazing! The place was clean and well equipped, we brought up two things to Wendy one night, and they were addressed the very next day. The neighbors were great, the Cape is adorable and full of charm, and although it had previously stormed and the weather was a bit cool, it was perfect for beach bonfires which was an amazing experience!
Most importantly Rocky was very welcomed and enjoyed his first-ever beach trip to the fullest! Woof woof, which means Thank you Wendy

Apr 2021

We had a fabulous time! Perfect location and the benefit of meeting great people that we will stay in touch with! We can't wait to come back!!

Mar 2021

“Wendy was very helpful and we were very comfortable in this townhome! Wonderful location, just a few steps from the most lovely Cape San Blas beach, with the most spectacular sunsets! Wendy made sure that the kitchen had all of the expected amenities and much more. The townhome was stocked with dish soap, laundry detergent, trash bags, and so many other things that made it really easy to get settled quickly. We made almost all of our meals at home and we had everything we needed. Everything was very clean when we arrived-you would never know that pets were allowed. We will definitely come back!”

Dec 2020

Pack light, because Wendy’s place has everything you need! Two beach umbrellas , four beach chairs, plus a fully reclining beach lounge that has a built in bottle opener & cell phone slot! The beach cart holds so much and actually converts to a lounge chair. The kitchen is more than well equipped. It has good sharp knives, lots of Tupperware for leftovers/snacks, spices, plenty dish & dishwasher soap...even foil & baggies! Tons of detailed information about the home and area in the book. The back deck with a gate was a perfect place for the dogs to enjoy leash free outdoor time with us. Just steps to 3 different access points to the beach. Even a gulf front covered pavilion which turned out to be a great rainy day hangout spot. Loved everything about Cape Escape!

Aug 2020

We spent a wonderful long weekend at Cape Escape I. We were impressed with how clean and well-stocked the property was - it was so nice to have everything from beach gear to cooking items & utensils on hand. It felt like Wendy had really thought through the needs of her guests and she was very responsive and thorough. We had a great time and were not ready to leave on Monday morning. Can’t wait to come back!

Aug 2020

Just spent a week on The Cape. Booked a condo with Wendy through Cape Escape Vacation Rentals and stayed in Cape Escape I at Barrier Dunes. Wendy was great. We can’t say enough great things about her and her thoughtfulness during the entire process and the time leading up to our trip. Her list of amenities are amazing. You can tell she is a mother who remembers how much work it is for mom to get the family ready for a week long trip! With 3 children in tow our list of items we needed to take was very limited considering everything that was already available at the house. She even called me a few days before our trip and gave us some insight on where to take our pontoon in the bay in hopes of seeing some dolphins. Her advice did not disappoint! We came so close to a group of dolphins my daughter nearly touched one!! Although the Gulf was much more rough than what we have seen in the past, a week on The Cape is Heaven in our minds. We look forward to returning. Hopefully sooner than later! Thanks again Wendy!! We really do appreciate you and all you have done to assist in making our trip amazing!
I came back to edit and add that our house was extremely clean when we arrived! Despite the current pandemic we did not feel unsafe staying in this house. The carpet throughout was very nice and clean and the bathrooms were as well!

Jul 2020

We had the very best time. It was wonderful. Your place was absolutely perfect. Thank you for being so thoughtful to provide all of the things you did… We are no longer PCB people J. I can’t think of any reason we would ever choose PCB over The Cape. I have viewed your other properties and we’ll be making another reservation with you in the near future.

Oct 2019

We had a lovely time.  The home was wonderful and so comfortable.  Thanks for accepting the last minute request!  We will be back.

Sep 2019

We really did enjoy CSB. We are already saying that we’re coming back next summer. Our condo was great and we especially appreciated how stocked it was. The extras like the beach cart for example were so helpful. The walkways and roads were easy to travel and made the beach very accessible.
My family met some interesting people and enjoyed our time in Barrier Dunes. There is a very family friendly atmosphere. What we discovered that was the most fun on the beach was that many gathered at dusk and spent the evening hanging out with bonfires and the sunset.
We did our grocery shopping in Port St. Joe and made use of the grill on our deck. We tried several good restaurants and eateries on the Cape including Skullys and The Sand Bucket. In Port St. Joe, we enjoyed Peppers for Mexican food and The Sunset Grill for great seafood and steaks.
Thank you, Wendy for providing the amazing experience in CSB. Your registration process went very smoothly and you provided every bit of information that we needed to have a successful trip. We will be back!

Jul 2017

We enjoyed our time at Barrier Dunes immensely! The home was so comfortable it was almost like being at home!
We enjoyed exploring the beach and looking for shells. We also went to St. Joseph State park and checked out the beach and dunes there. Another day we rented kayaks and paddled around the bay. We also took a trip to Apalachicola and did some souvenir shopping and ate lunch at the Owl Cafe….delicious! We also went to Mexico beach and had dinner at a seafood restaurant called Toucans. Towards the end of our trip we to St. George Island….very beautiful!!
We had such a wonderful time and wished we could have stayed longer. We hope to return to Cape San Blas soon. When we do…we’d love to stay at Barrier Dunes!

Oct 2016

I just loved the decorating at the condo (Barrier Dunes 67 – Cape Escape I). We all agreed that it looked so natural and cheerful. We especially like the casual blue denim fabric on the couches and the beaches bedspreads. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed and the grill started right up so we felt at home pretty quickly. Lucy, our lab, loved the ocean and was exhausted, so was easy to manage in the new environment.
We rented bikes from Scallop Cove and enjoyed biking in the state park and on the bike path towards Port St. Joe. My husband got hooked on the donut stand (this is at the Trading Post).
Leslie is an artist and May 1 – 10 there was a county wide Plein Air art event going on, so we really enjoyed going to the exhibits and meeting artist outdoors painting in Apalachicola and seeing the web room at WindMark beach. We also enjoyed the year-round art galleries in Apalachicola, especially the Bowery. Leslie liked Tamara’s Cafe in Apalach so we ate there twice.
The vacation was really about the beach, which was lovely. Evan loved playing Frisbee on the sandbar, 50 feet out. We saw dolphins, a manta ray and pelican. All Lucy, our lab cared about was fetching balls out of the ocean. She was obsessed. The whole dog culture at Barrier Dunes was fun.
Beautiful vacation. Lovely beach, pools and tennis courts. Lovely grounds and friendly people!

Our Thanksgiving Getaway

Our stay at Cape Escape was just wonderful! My husband and I were impressed with all the extras that were provided, and the place was immaculate when we arrived. We were well taken care when we had even the smallest of questions! The beach was an easy walk for these two 70 year olds, so anyone can get there in a second (pools, too). We rode our bikes all over the island safely on the bike paths and enjoyed the State Park one day. I would highly recommend this beautiful townhome!

Blew away my expectations

Barrier Dunes - literally shocked me. One of the most beautiful condos and community ive ever stayed… the unit was beyond clean but had towels etc for us as well as for our dogs… games fot the toddler… all amenities and was spotless… extremely comfortable beds and completely exceeded my expectations for a place allowing dogs. Devi the manager was unreal… she was genuinely excited that we were coming and made sure we had all we needed. No question about whether i will stay here again. Quiet community, great neighborhood, great neighbors, great cleaning staff, and great management. Thank you!!! Oh and amazing beaches with crazy easy access!!!

Great accommodations, perfect location

We have been renting from Cape Escape Vacation Rentals since 2006, and this year’s trip was just as good as always. Wendy does a great job keeping her units well furnished and up to date. Including little extras like beach chairs and sand toys makes a big difference.Business is really rebounding in the Cape San Blas/Port St Joe area following Hurricane Michael and COVID. But the beaches remain pristine and uncrowded, just the way we like them.We look forward to our time on Cape San Blas every year, and Cape Escape Vacation Rentals provides the perfect destination.

Beautiful!

Cape Escape 1 was fantastic. Nice setting, beautiful grounds and the condo was clean as a whistle and well stocked. Loved having a gas grill on the deck. We enjoyed walking, biking and playing tennis. But, the show stopper was the beach. Just a few steps and your toes were in the sugary sand. We walked it each morning and evening, then returned each night for the gorgeous sunsets. Thank you, Wendy, for making it a great vacation in a great property. We will be back!

We had a wonderful time in this gated community condo The pools were very nice and the ocean was just a walk away. My grandson loved going to the turtle pond with extra bread in the morning The condo had everything we needed to prepare some delicious meals

Winter Escape to the Cape

Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Cape San Blas. This is a hidden area which is a gem for a quiet couples getaway to a family-friendly vacation. I wish the weather had been better for us to enjoy some of the water activities but it surely gave me a taste to come back - I'm already looking at my calendar! And the seafood - YUMMY!The property was fabulous! All kinds of terrific amenities, great location - just steps to the pool house and beach - and the master suite was my favorite! Wendy made the booking so very easy all I had to do was show up!Everywhere we went at the Barrier Dunes, there were friendly people walking - a lot with their four legged friends - and it gave the whole area a super safe & comfortable feel!Highly recommend Cape Escapes for any kind of travel to this fabulous treasure of an area! Did I mention we loved it?!

Great Beaches and Dog Friendly

Cape Escape's units are always clean and have everything you need. We have stayed at the Barrier Dunes numerous times since the late 1980s and it is a nice development with all the amenities that blends into the landscape unlike a giant concrete box. The beach is lovely and dog friendly.

Relaxing vacation!

We are familiar with Barrier Dunes but this is the first time booking with Cape Escape. We found the condo to be quiet, clean, comfortable and a perfect place for relaxing. We spent everyday on the beach except one (we rented a boat and spent that one day on the bay). The pools we're clean. The grounds were well kept. It was nice having our own laundry room for washing wet suits and towels. We loved having the gas grill for grilling steaks and grouper. The back patio was very private, which was nice for early morning coffee. We will definitely rent here again. Wendy was wonderful to work with.

Great escape to Cape Escape I on Cape San Blas

Hubby and I had a wonderful escape to Wendy's Cape Escape 1. She made the reservations and check in info clear and easy as possible. The rental was immaculately clean and very very cozy. The walk to the beach was easy, about the distance of a typical city block. Beach was absolutely gorgeous. Wendy's beach chairs in the garage were lighter and easier to carry than the camp chairs we brought, so very appreciated. When we were tired of swimming and bobbing in the ocean and beach sitting, and wanted to chill at "home" Cape Escape, we really loved hanging out on the back porch, which is ideally situated in that it faces north east, so is in shade after the early morning and is ringed by some nice palm trees. Great little community with plenty of room to spread out on beach. We enjoyed grouper and scallops dinner at Provisions in Port St Joe about 15 minutes drive away. Note to readers, basically all homes on San Blas including Cape Escape have stairs... lots of stairs... the houses are on "stilts" so living unit is a flight up and bedrooms typically another flight up. And stairs to get over sand dunes... so be aware for less mobile able family members. Thanks, Wendy!

Wonderful Week on the Cape!

My 2 daughters (20 & 15) and I stayed in Barrier Dunes during our week of spring break from Indiana. Things were just about to change with the coronavirus and while the week was stressful with the new and the threat of the beaches closing, Barrier Dunes was a perfect, peaceful place to escape all of the worry, but still stay safe with uncrowded beaches and accommodations.Wendy was very pleasant and responsive. The condo was neat and tidy, clean and had more than everything we needed. While our condo wasn't on the beach but about 3 rows back, it was a flat easy walk, close enough to leave the beach to refill your tea glass and come back.We have been to PSJ the past 2 years and always end up swimming/beaching at the cape because it is so beautiful and full of wildlife, so we were excited to actually stay on the cape this time. We would get up, breakfast on the patio, my kids would fish the small ponds (which need some time to stock up again after the hurricane) and we would head to the beach or the state park to explore. Evenings were my favorite after dinner to bring a hoodie and a frisbee and wait for the dolphins to swim by and the sun to leave the cape golden until it set. We didn't use the pool because we love the beach too much and can use a pool in Indiana, but we saw others use it and it was clean and looked nice.It has only been 6 weeks, but I'm ready to come back already, once the beaches and rentals open back up. Thanks for a wonderful place to make lasting memories!

We've had the pleasure of staying at the Cape Escape I&II. Big Thanks to Wendy Jackson for always making everything so simple. The family-friendly beach condo is always clean and truly feels like home away from home. The hardest part of the trip is leaving! We look forward to returning soon!

Simply PERFECT. Pet friendly Paradise!

A paradise for the entire family, including the furry ones. Excellent place to relax and forget about the stress of life. The house had everything we could possible need and more. It is decorated nicely and kept really clean. Our dogs had a blast and we finally had the vacation we dreamed about it. We wanted a place to really rest, enjoy great views and be worry free about our dogs because they were with us. It worked really great. The communication since inquiring, reserving, getting ready to travel and after completing the trip was 100% best customer service ever. Wendy is great, she kept us informed and she was open for any questions we might had. We are definitely going back and we have already told our family and friends about the place and posting great pictures on Facebook. We loved our stay and cant wait to go back. Thank you for everything.

Peaceful Relaxing stay

This is our third visit to the Cape and while the weather was the least favorable, we still had a great time. I have always stayed at Cape Escape I and Wendy is a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend her and the multiple units she has in Barrier Dunes. We always look forward to getting back to Cape San Blas. So much progress on recovery from Michael.

AMAZING!!!!!

Cape San Blas is Amazing!!!! Our stay was fantastic compliments of our condo through Cape Escape Vacation Rentals. The Cape was amazing and it was so great to see how much business was alive and thriving so soon after Hurricane Michael. The beaches were beautiful, fishing was bountiful and our dog was able to vacation with us!!!! We will definitely be back. After telling our family about how amazing it was they stopped on the cape twice during their stay in a nearby town. See you again soon Cape San Blas

A unique and wonderful place to stay and visit

Cape San Blas and the St Joseph Penninsula are amazing places to visit. We were interested in a place that had easy access to a beach and pool, dogs were welcomed, and was, above all, relaxing and fun! The Cape Escape was everything we wanted and more for our vacation. We will have to return to fully explore everything the area has to offer. I highly recommend staying there.

Beautiful condo/Awesome beach!

My husband and I stayed at Cape Escape 1 at Barrier Dunes. This condo had everything we could possibly need for our stay, from kitchen items right down to the beach cart! It was big enough to carry our chairs and all of our beach gear with ease. We were a bit hesitant to return to Cape San Blas so soon after hurricane Michael, but the beaches and sunsets were still just as beautiful! We additionally got to witness a turtle laying her eggs on the beach...on Mother’s Day! Wendy from Cape Escape Vacation Rentals called us to let us know as it was nesting season. She remained very helpful during our stay, and promptly answered any questions we had. We were also lucky enough to see a bald Eagle on one of our day trips! We cannot wait to go back, and will bring our pups next time! The unit even had dog towels, and other pet items on hand. Although the Cape is still recovering in some ways from hurricane Michael it’s charm and beauty still remains. The resilience and spirit of its residents was evident in everyone we met.
