The large living room has French doors leading onto a screened-in porch, which overlooks a brick walkway in the lush gardens. It has a large kitchen and bright dining room surrounded by windows, which have a view of the canal. The master suite has a beautiful bay window for gorgeous views of the gardens and a separate additional entrance for privacy that leads to the outdoor shower. About the host: We are Ali, Rich and Chloe Jane Light. We moved to Siesta Key in 1997 and have never looked back. We absolutely love living here and sharing our paradise with our guests. We have been renting our six cosy bungalows since 1998. Ali is an artist and has drawn inspiration for colors and design of our bungalows from our travels to Hawaii, Ireland, and the British Virgin Islands. Rich was a custom design home builder and landlord for many years in the Philadelphia region, so together we have found the perfect match for having beach rentals.
Why this property? When we moved to Siesta Key in 1997 we knew that we wanted to be able to share this gorgeous area with others and having rentals seemed to be the perfect way.We started buying and restoring our Bungalows in 2000.

My stay at the Canal Place in Siesta Bungalows
I am thoroughly enjoying my stay at Siesta Bungalows!!! My place is clean, quiet, and in a fabulous location!! I am about a 5 minute walk to the village and only a 7 min walk from the breathtaking Siesta Beach! The location could not be anymore ideal! Rich, the owner is extremely attentive and is always available. I could not be happier! I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I love it!!!

Kay, Ali & I have enjoyed having you at our CANAL PLACE Cottage. Thank you.
Comfy, casual, clean!
We have been staying on Siesta Key with Siesta Bungalows for the month of March for many years! We have always had an enjoyable month! Ali and Rich, the owners, are lovely and have always been so friendly and helpful! This time we stayed at Canal Place and found it to be perfect! Set amongst palm trees and shrubs it was very relaxing quiet and close to the village and beach! Plenty of places to eat in the village and easy to bike to Turtle Beach or Siesta Beach. Great feeling of Old Florida!

Fabulous location in a comfy pet friendly cottage
We (2 couples) have stayed at Canal Place in Siesta Key for 5 years. Our hosts, Rich and Ali Light, are gracious hosts and very responsive. Canal Place is in an excellent location, about 10min to the village and 15 min to the beach. It is a spacious, rustic cottage with a lovely lanai and backyard where we spent most of our time. The kitchen is a good size and has a dishwasher. The cottage has simple decorations and was comfortable for 2 couples (1 larger bedroom, 1 small and 2 small bathrooms). It is located in a quiet neighbourhood away from the parties in the village. There is a small grocery store in the village that is very convenient. Rich was very obliging in allowing us to bring our dogs. Of course, we ensured that they were quiet and friendly and we are responsible owners. We enjoyed use of a kayak for the canals and beach chairs (bring your own umbrella). The facilities outdoors, like the washing machine, chairs, bicycles are shared with the cottage in the back. Actually we made friends with some of those tenants. We really enjoyed our time spent at Canal Place and the Siesta Key area. Rich was great at providing many good suggestions about what to do and where to go in the area. He was also very responsive in making sure that everything at the cottage was working properly!

Gloria, It was our pleasure to have you stay at Canal Place for those five years. Thank you for your lovely review. We really appreciate the time you spent to write it.
A Relaxing Tropical Getaway
We are currently enjoying the 3rd month of our 8+ month stay at Canal Place and couldn't be happier! This lovely cottage is warm and inviting, and is perfect for a long or short stay. There are so many wonderful things about it, but the very best feature is the amazing location. Being just a 5 minute (or less) walk or an even shorter bike ride from Siesta Key Village has been absolutely fantastic. There are so many charming restaurants and shops that we can easily go to within minutes. Also, the beach is just a short walk or bike ride away as well. We've spent many evenings watching sunset on the beach, having a evening beach picnic, or riding bikes on the beach. Another convenience is that the cottage is located right across from the canal, with its own dock and kayaks. We've been out several times and seen dolphins and manatees on every trip. We even saw a manatee right from the dock. We rented paddleboards from a local rental shop and they delivered/picked up the boards right at the dock, which was so easy - if you prefer SUPs to kayaks.Besides the location, the property itself is really adorable and feels much larger than it actually is. The interior is brightly painted, with a Caribbean/Key West vibe and the owners have taken care to keep the cottage true to the original Old Florida style. The outdoor space is beautiful and includes a screened in lanai, which we have definitely enjoyed as a space to relax and to have dinner. The backyard is a charming little garden, with a brick paver walkway leading to the outdoor hot tub. All around the yard you'll see bougainvillea and a wealth of natural foliage. Just lovely! If you want a true Old Florida, tropical island experience, and not just a place to stay, this is most certainly the spot for you! Forgo the stuffy condo and enjoy this little cottage and you'll be glad you did. If we don't decide to move here permantly sooner than we think...we'll be back!! The owners, Rich and Ali Light, have been lovely...warm, friendly, caring and helpful. You won't have to worry about having issues that won't be taken care of, or owners who are nowhere to be found, because they live just across the canal and are happy to help you with anything you need. They are easy to communicate with and a pleasure to work with!We can't wait to enjoy the next few months here!
