About this rental
Location is everything! Close to the beaches - we are just 6 miles from the Fort Myers Beach bridge, and 6 miles from the Sanibel bridge! Also close to shopping, dining, golf, fishing! You will feel right at home the moment you walk in the door of our spacious and comfortable townhome. Enjoy dining in the privacy of your own beautifully landscaped, fenced in courtyard with commercial grade Char-Broil grill.
The main floor consists of a large living area, half bath with large capacity washer and dryer, dining room with 'home office' armoire w /printer, and fully equipped kitchen.
The second story boasts a large master bedroom with king sized bed, and an ensuite 3/4 bath. The first guest bedroom also has a king bed, the second guest bedroom has twin over full bunks, and these two bedrooms share a full bath just down the hall.
Located in the Iona area of Fort Myers in sought after Peppertree Pointe, our guests have raved about how quiet and friendly the neighborhood is. Large HEATED community pool, tennis/pickleball courts, marina, fishing pier, beautiful walking paths.
Unique Benefits
After looking at many typical Florida condos and townhomes which were cookie cutter, too small, ho-hum, with a tiny screened lanai facing someone else's tiny screened lanai, not to mention nearly identical to the last dozen we had looked at, we arrived at what we KNEW was THE place for us. We absolutely loved the large outdoor space in the fenced courtyard. We had privacy! We were close to the beaches (many of the rentals down here can be a 30-40 minute drive)! Not every complex had a HEATED pool - this one did. We were close to the beaches, but didn't have to deal with the traffic, noise, and hassle. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly - lots of people walking and biking. We had access to a fishing pier. Grocery stores, Target & Wal-Mart were close by. It was all good, and we knew we had found our little piece of paradise.
Why Kids Love It
For most kids, it's all about the beaches, and swimming. Our heated pool is awesome, and not overcrowded. There are several options for mini golf nearby, Zoomer's Amusement park within 5 minutes or so. The Shell Museum in North Fort Myers is a big hit with our grandson - it's a small scale zoo. The Naples Zoo is approx. 35 miles away. There are several Water Parks in Cape Coral. Oh, and don't forget LoveBoat IceCream!
Area Information
Located on the southwest gulf coast, Fort Myers is known for it's beautiful warm weather and typically safe beaches. Sanibel Island is a well known destination for fantastic shelling. As a resident in Peppertree Pointe, you will have access to a marina with long fishing pier on the Caloosahatchee River. You can also fish for free ocean front, or on the Sanibel Causeway. Many deep sea fishing charters are available nearby.
Enjoy shopping at the nearby Tanger Outlets near Sanibel. Golfing opportunities abound, as well as mini-golf, including our family's favorite "Jungle Golf"! Boat rentals are available in Cape Coral, Fort Myers Beach, etc. Rent a kayak and explore the backwaters around Sanibel, and experience the joy of a close up encounter with manatees. Take an excursion boat for a dolphin or sunset cruise. Rent jets skis or para-sail at Ft. Myers Beach. Or have a fun little get-a-way by taking the high speed Key West Express ferry from Ft. Myers and be in Key West in just four hours.

Private fishing pier
Favorite Places To Eat
Lots of great places on Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island! You won't run out of places to try. Nervous Nellies (FMB) is one of our favorites, as well as Coconut Jack's at Bonita Beach - their key lime pie (Sweet Melissa's) is outstanding! Great seafood everywhere. Within one mile or so of the townhome, you will find Salty Papa's Shrimp, Ron Dao's (great pizza!), Hickory BBQ, Pickle&Pub, LaCasita, & others too numerous to mention.
*We love to buy shrimp fresh off the shrimp boats (TriCo Seafoods) and grill our own!
Inside Scoop
There is a $6 toll to take the Sanibel bridge to the islands of Sanibel and Captiva, but there's great shore fishing and beach experiences to be had on the Fort Myers side without taking the bridge and paying the toll. There's also a more private little beach area called "Bunche Beach". There is a great Nature Preserve on Sanibel called DingDarling. You can rent kayaks, etc. here. Cape Coral is known to the locals as "The Cape". There is a charming, artsy little village - an old fishing village - full of character and charm and lots of unique shops up northwest of Cape Coral called Matlacha, which is pronounced "matlashay".

About the host: We are a nearly retired couple from Minnesota who have been married for 46 years. Dave is still working full time in Research, Development and Sales for a large commercial insulation manufacturer. Corey retired a couple of years ago after 32+ years in county government. We have a married grown daughter who has just completed her Doctorate degree, and one grandson. We are not yet able to leave the brutal winters of Minnesota behind us, but knew we wanted to find our own piece of paradise in this wonderful area. We did, and are able to offer it for rental. We generally get down to Florida in the spring and fall, to work on improvement projects.
**2020 update. Corey, my wife of 47 years passed away suddenly last September. I am planning to continue with our piece of paradise. I know I will struggle with keeping the listing and calendar updated as well as she did. Hope you will be patient as I learn the ropes. I will be updating some photos soon as we have made some improvements.........Dave Johnson
Why this property? We rented vacation homes in Florida for 20+ years. We had rented as far north as St. Petersburg, and realized the weather was a little bit warmer further to the south. So we tried Sanibel Island, Cape Coral, and Fort Myers. Much better! We got to know the area well. The airport was close and on a smaller scale than Tampa. We got to know what a good location was, and what we liked and appreciated in a rental home. We realized that location was paramount! Cape Coral was too far, Sanibel/Captiva were a bit pricey, Ft. Myers Beach was pricey and somewhat hectic, and many rentals even in the Fort Myers area were a 30-40 minute drive to the beach. We looked at this property, and knew that this was it. Only 6 miles to the bridges! Dave, as an avid fisherman, loves the access to the fishing pier for a quick and handy place to fish without a boat. The fishing pier is also a fabulous place to go in the evening, sit on the benches, and watch the beautiful sunsets over the Caloosahatchee River. The neighborhood is peaceful and friendly. The speed limit on our street is 15mph. The pool is HEATED. The townhome was different from the dozens of other places we had looked at - it was spacious, and offered a private outdoor area. We were sold! We felt right at home. And you will, too!

Our wonderful stay at the Johnson residence in Peppertree Pointe
David was a helpful, flexible and gracious host. His townhouse is located in a very quiet neighborhood featuring pleasant walks near a small lake and very large river with pier access....Great spot for watching sunsets! The unit itself has been updated, has a well-equipped kitchen and is very tastefully decorated. We also enjoyed eating on the patio sheltered from the sun by palm trees wafting in the breeze. We have been to Iona (just south of Ft. Myers) many times before, and it is our favorite spot because of quick and easy access to places like Sanibel Island and Ft. Myers Beach. Of all the units we have rented through the years in this area, this one tops our list. Location. Location. Location.Great value for the price. And working with David was a very pleasant/fun experience. He even introduced us to using Roku/streaming tv!

Great location for enjoying SW Florida
Where to start? We have been exploring/vacationing and now "snowbird-ing" SW Florida for many years staying in several different areas in and around Fort Myers. This location is our favorite place so far. Quiet neighborhood, friendly neighbors, close to beaches, and other fun things, great food all around, and a pair of nesting Bald Eagles, we watched raise their young, over the past two months, just a short walk away. The place FAR exceeded our expectations, being clean, comfortable, and equipped so very well, and the heated pool was a bonus. Corey and David are two of the nicest people we have "never" met (face to face). Easy to work with, shared information and were quick to respond when we had questions. They take a lot of pride in their home and go above and beyond making it welcoming and comfortable for their tenants. We look forward in returning next year around the same time. Bill and Sue

Can't wait to come back!!
We had a wonderful month in Fort Myers staying at Silver Palms. It is a great place and we felt very comfortable and safe here. It's decorated so nice with a beach theme, the furniture and beds are all comfortable and the townhouse was clean. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, even spices, coffee filters, and dishwashing soap. The frig has water and ice on the door. There's garbage bags too!! A lot of rental places don't provide any of the items the Johnsons do in their rental. It certainly is something we appreciated that we didn't have to bring or go out and buy. Corey and Dave were quick to respond to any questions we had. This place is close to so many things, beaches, great restaurants, stores, gas stations, grocery stores and the best place of all Love Boat Ice Cream!! We also enjoyed going to the pool which is a short walk from the townhouse. We enjoyed using the walking path around the lake and going to the fishing pier to enjoy beautiful sunsets. The area is quiet, the patio and courtyard is lovely with palm trees and flowers. This is our first time staying in Florida and so glad we found this place. We toured the Edison Ford Winter Estates and Museum which is an easy drive from the townhouse, it was great, would highly recommend it. We also went to the Ringling Museum in Sarasota which was amazing. The Key West Express boat trip to Key West was an enjoyable day. All in all our month in Florida at Silver Palms couldn't have been better, the only thing better would have been to spend more time there. Looking forward to staying there again next March.
